Back in the Hospital

For some of you, this will be new info, but for others... it is an update. I want to start by telling you I am sorry if I didn't contact you earlier to tell you what has been going on. The past few days have been a blur. Thank you to those that have been praying and checking in on Abigail.

Here is the story:

Abigail had another seizure at home Sunday afternoon. We took her to the ER. While there, they thought she was sleeping it off, however, when she woke up, she was still having a focal seizure. After a few more meds, she stopped. We were in the hospital for 2 days. The doctors have run all types of tests and so far, so good. However, we still have to wait on the EEG. The doctor seems to think she may have either migraines causing this or more likely, a form of partial complex epilepsy (causing her to have seizures on one side of her body and still able to talk to us through them). We won't know the results of that for a few weeks. They have placed her on anti-seizure meds for the meantime.

Please be in prayer for Abigail and the doctors. We trust God to provide and know He loves her more than us (even when we can't imagine that). We are also claiming that baby #3 will not face the trauma of Peirce seizures!

And baby makes 5!

Yes.... that is right. Sometime around the end of November or beginning of December, there will be an addition to our family. We are a little shocked and a LOT excited. We told the kids last night, so I figured I better tell everyone else before they do! I am not sure how far along I am, but I will be having an ultrasound in 2 weeks to determine the due date. I think I am around 6-7 weeks.

Allan and I have ALWAYS wanted more children, but I must confess this pregnancy is in God's timing, not ours. We have some challenges ahead with my health and with insurance (or the lack there of), so please keep us in your prayers. However, please know, we are VERY excited to welcome a new baby into our family. You can never have too much love to give! We will keep you posted!

Easter

Easter is always one of my favorite holidays. This year was jammed pack with A.J.'s birthday, renovations on the house, company in town, and the traditional activities as church and egg hunts.

First, Abigail had an egg hunt at school. Here are some pictures, including one with her friend, Anna.

Then, we had an egg hunt at our house with cousins Emily and Christian. The girls and Christian hunted in the front yard, and A.J. had his own space with better hidden eggs in the back yard.

A.J.'s Birthday

This weekend, along with Easter, was A.J.'s 7th birthday. We always love birthdays in our family. Since we had done Stone Mountain instead of a friend party, we just had family. It was very low key. Grandma, Pa, Kevin, Lesli, Emily, and Christian all came from Thomasville, GA. Aunt Laura came from Kentucky. And, Papa, Nana, and Uncle Michael came from North Carolina. Thanks to everyone for traveling for this special day!

We started with a birthday for A.J. in his classroom. This is his teacher, Mrs. Walters.


Here are his classmates.

A.J. wanted cupcakes with light sabers made out of candy. We settled on homemade cupcakes with store bought Star Wars toppers. Sometimes that is the best I can do! Then, on his actually birthday, we had family party time. We have been telling A.J. he had to wait for Christmas to get a Wii. He was trying to earn one by taking care of his games and videos. Instead, we orchestrated Grandma and Pa and Nana and Papa to go in together to get one for his birthday. Here are some pictures of presents he opened and a video of the shocked child when he got his Wii!

Stone Mountain

We went to Stone Mountain to celebrate A.J.'s 7th birthday (which is this upcoming Saturday). Nana and Papa met us there, and we had a wonderful day. I took a ton of pictures, but unfortunately, the new memory stick I was using messed up a few of them. However, here are some good ones I did get.

The first thing we did was the ropes course. Abigail took the ground level version, but Allan, A.J., and Nana all hit the high ropes (probably about 50 feet up at the highest place).

We had a nice picnic and then went to the top of the mountain. Abigail, Nana, and I took the sky tram to the top, but the boys hiked the 1.3 miles straight up the mountain.

We even had a chance to "Ride the Ducks." It was a bus ride that went into the water like a boat. Everyone had quackers for the trip. The kids each had a turn to drive the boat.

We did many other activities while we were there, although we weren't able to do everything we wanted because we ran out of time. However, it was a fabulous day that ended with a great laser light show.
